The Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance Program (LaCHIP) is an optional Medicaid program that provides healthcare coverage to uninsured children up to age 19 and enrollees in the LaCHIP Unborn Option (Phase IV) which provides prenatal care services, from conception to birth, for low income uninsured mothers who are not otherwise eligible for Medicaid.

In response to SB 305 of the 2003 Regular Session, DHH is required to submit certain information regarding the Medicaid Buy-In Program to the legislature, including the status of the buy-in program, a report relative to the estimated value of the state, federal and FICA taxes paid by the participants in the buy-in program, and any recommendations for expanding coverage in the buy-in program.

In accordance with ACT 186 of the 2016 Regular Legislative Session, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) submits the attached report. ACT 186 requested the Louisiana Obesity Prevention and Management Commission to update the legislature on the commission’s progress toward full implementation of services and programs in the state to increase prevention and management of the disease of obesity in adults and children.

In response to House Resolution 177 of the 2017 Regular Legislative Session, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is required to study and report its findings on the desirability and feasibility of increasing the minimum age to purchase tobacco products in Louisiana to twenty-one.

House Concurrent Resolution 58 of the 2017 Legislative Session requested the Bureau of Family Health of The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) to work in conjunction with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the State’s Child Death Review Committee (CDRC) to evaluate the feasibility and desirability of implementing a "baby box" program as a means to promote safe sleep among families with newborns and thereby reduce infant mortality and report its findings to the House Committee on Health and Welfare and the Senate Committee on Health and Welfare

In response to House Concurrent Resolution 8 of the 2017 Regular Legislative Session, LDH is required to publish on a quarterly basis a report on reimbursement enhancements paid to hospitals pursuant to the stabilization formula.

The Department of Health submits a detailed monthly report to the Legislature that provides a comprehensive overview of Medicaid spending. The reports include projections for future revenues and expenditures for the given state fiscal year.
