Pharmacy Services ProgramThe Pharmacy Services Program of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health provides the medication requirements for the Family Planning Program, including contraceptive devices, and provides medication for the STD, Tuberculosis, Children's Special Health and Hemophilia Programs.

The Pharmacy Program under the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health offers the following services:

• Provides regular site visits by pharmacists to the public health units.
• Provides in-service training programs on a wide variety of topics including drug dosing, side effects and interactions for the professional staff. Other topics include drug ordering and inventory control for the clerical staff.
• Provides personalized counseling after evaluation of each patient's medical, and drug profile. This is accomplished with the aide of various drug interaction programs.
• Provides patient information and communication with other health care professionals by means of an 800 number.
